NEW PRACTICES, FRESH START
After spending time away on my honeymoon recently with my now one in a million sidekick of a wife, I was wondering why things felt a bit stagnant within my working environment and I feel it is because I haven’t changed any of my practices over the years, which then actually led to the creation of this website.
I have mainly operated off of my business instagram for the last 5 years, taking enquiries through DM’S and realistically wasting time on enquiries which turned out to be dead ends, chasing up deposits that were promised and never placed and spending time answering questions that I should have put clear answers out there for people to see, prior to them messaging me, In short, I wasn’t making the booking process and in turn, my work, any easier for myself.
Therefore at the start of this year, I went about setting up a new booking platform with the folks over at Get Ink, which has been a lifesaver, the admin side of my work is now so minimal that it means I can get back to focusing on my current and potential future clients more, any questions that need to be answered, are already done so before an enquiry is sent to me, therefore making the transition process between sending an enquiry to having a date booked in, seamless.
I have gone about investing in myself via bringing in new equipment which can level up my game online in terms of posting and now, I have set up this website so that I am reachable across multiple platforms, as well as different search engines.
I have also arranged two more conventions that I will be attending this year, on top of the one I arranged in January, Big Tattoo Meltdown in Nottingham, UKTTA in Manchester and Dublin Tattoo Convention, conveniently in Dublin - therefore I am focusing a lot more this year on the networking side to my job, after all, I’ve met numerous artists at conventions in recent years now and a few who I consider friends.
In recent years I have been my own worst enemy at seeming to blame everything but myself in regards to how I get my work out to the general public, without actually putting the necessary work behind the scenes in to do so, now I am going to be using all available platforms in order to reach a larger audience and allowing people the insight to how my mind works is another way to go about things, hence the blog - this is a little peek behind the curtain to see the inner workings of this job and not the day to day studio work that everyone see’s, some blog updates may be more boring than others, however I like to think people enjoy seeing a side not everyone sees, so as we press ahead with this, enjoy the future as it lies ahead.
